Welcome to my blog!
“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste it, to experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly & without fear for newer & richer experiences.”
–Eleanor Roosevelt
Hello & welcome to my blog!
My name is Brooke Kellicut. I am a registered nurse, & travel is my outlet, my therapy.
As healthcare professionals, we often give so much of ourselves to our patients that we forget to take care of ourselves. It took years for me to stop & take time for myself. However, once I was able to get over that hurdle & divide my energy in a healthy way, I learned as a nurse, I have dedicated my life to caring for others. I am compassionate, empathetic, & always putting others' needs before mine. As do you! While this can be admirable, it's essential to remember that I deserve the same level of compassion & care that I give to my patients & their families.
Whether it's a solo trip to a new city or a relaxing beach vacation with friends, traveling allows me to disconnect from work and recharge my batteries. It also gives me the opportunity to explore new cultures, try new foods, & meet new people. Traveling allows me to indulge in my passions & discover new things about myself. It also gives me the opportunity to disconnect from the stresses of work & life, & focus on my own needs.
I no longer feel selfish for taking care of myself. Neither should you! Investing in self-love is not selfish; it's essential for your well-being & happiness. By inspiring the same compassion you give others for yourself, you can live a fulfilling life both at work, in your life, & during your travels.
Thank you for joining me on this journey! I hope my blog will inspire you to prioritize self-care, take time for yourself by traveling, explore new experiences & adventures, & practice self-love, no matter your profession. Whether I write about personal stories & experiences or places I think you should see, I hope it will spark something inside you to go out & see this beautiful world!
Remember the importance of self-love, & taking care of yourself is essential to taking care of others!
XOXO, Brooke
